SoWell

AI-driven therapy app

Overview

SoWell is a therapy app concept with an incorporated AI chat quiz that helps users match with therapists based on the latter's expertise and user responses, ensuring a personalised therapy plan.

My goal was to design a simple and intuitive app that provides an accurate matching system between users and therapists with a reliable online therapy process.

Research

I’ve started reading articles and studies in the field to learn more about people seeking for therapy online. My background in psychology came in handy at this step helping me understand the specifics of the domain. I’ve also conducted a competitors research to see the current apps offerings.

Looking into competitors apps I've discovered that one of the leading apps in the field has a long screening process that includes some irrelevant questions.

During the screening process, users are promised a personalised match with a therapist at the end. However, upon completion, they're immediately asked to pay for a subscription before accessing their match. While this is a common practice in the onboarding process I believe it lacks transparency and it might fall under the dark patterns umbrella.

  • Other apps that felt more fun and inviting had no screening questionnaire whatsoever and let the user choose from a plethora of therapists with no guidance.

opportunity

Personalisation of the therapist finding process and patient assessment. None of the existing apps leveraged LLMs to address the issue.

Natural conversation instead of impersonal questionnaires for patient assessment

Instead of tedious and impersonal questionnaires I used an AI chat quiz that lets users express naturally, making it easier for the system to connect them with the proper therapist.

Matching therapists

Each therapist is assigned a matching percentage determined by their expertise and the user's responses from the previous assessment. Now, users can confidently select from a more informed pool of professionals.

One step reservation process

Taking in account users busy schedules I focused on a simple reservation process that contains all relevant information.

Wireframes

I have gone through many iterations of low-fidelity designs before finalising the screens for high-fidelity designs. These are just a few examples of the early iterations I went through.

High-Fidelity Designs

I then created high-fidelity designs and prepared them for usability testing to understand how real users interact with the website.
